This position contributes to the efficient and effective operation of the Public Trustee by assisting the General Manager Trustee Services to manage the delivery of legal services to the Board, Chief Executive Officer, clients and staff of the Public Trustee.

Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight- flexible options available.
Duties
* Attend on clients of the Public Trustee and provide legal assistance concerning estate planning and testamentary dispositions; take and check instructions for drawing and engrossing wills and other legal documents.
* Attend TASCAT hearings to provide legal assistance to the Represented Person(s) and Public Trustee staff, as required.
* As directed, have the carriage and conduct of actions as Counsel for and instructing solicitor of the Public Trustee (in its own right and its capacity as representative of others) in the jurisdiction of the Civil and Supreme Court.
* As directed, provide legal assistance and opinions to and for clients and staff of the Public Trustee and to research questions of law accordingly.
* Undertake and see through to completion the various conveyancing matters of the office (including mortgages and settlements of the sale and purchase of land) and, as necessary, supervise the work of those engaged in sub-matters.
* Undertake client presentations and community liaison visits to relevant organisations and follow up on identified new business opportunities.
* As required, provide directions, assistance, training and coaching throughout the State to legal and non-legal staff employed by the Public Trustee.
* Admission or qualification and entitlement to admission as a Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania.

2.Disciplinary action in previous employment.
* A Legal Practitioner with more than 2 years relevant post-admission experience.
