About Our History
Calvary Mater Newcastle has a proud history dating back to its founding as a 34‐bed hospital in Enmore Hall on Edith Street, Waratah. Over the years it has grown into a 215‐bed facility, employing over 1,300 staff and caring for more than 460,000 outpatients a year. It remains a leading research centre and the main centre for cancer clinical trials in the Hunter region.
