About Us

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a wonderful place to expand your career and grow your skills and knowledge. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we provide a range of public health services to the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Region.

The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).

Are you passionate about supporting the health and wellbeing of children and families? We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Child and Family Health Nursing (CFHN) service, an integral part of primary health care. This role focuses on promoting optimal health, growth, and development for children aged 0–5 years and their families through compassionate, evidence-based care.

As a Registered Nurse in Child and Family Health, you will work in partnership with families and the multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care that aligns with the goals of each child and their family. Using a strengths-based family partnership approach and guided by the principles of Primary Health Care, you will collaborate with clients, carers, and families to deliver client-centred care that is both safe and effective.

This comprehensive role involves health assessment, prevention, early identification and intervention, referral, health promotion, community development, and education. You will be part of a supportive team committed to improving outcomes for children and empowering families through high-quality nursing care.

What You Will Bring To The Role

Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW) and a demonstrated ability to effectively and sensitively liaise with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and the local Aboriginal communities.Current registration as Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRADemonstrated recent experience and clinical skill in provision of care to children aged 0-5 years and their families/carers as a registered nurse (including completion of a new graduate RN program or 12 months full time equivalent experience working as a Registered Nurse)Demonstrated evidence of working within a multidisciplinary team to facilitate the care planning for families with complex needs.Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work and an ability to effectively work both within a team and autonomously.Demonstrated effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated commitment to professional development, evidence based practice and an awareness of changes within the health care environmentDemonstrated knowledge of and ability to utilise information technology systems within a variety of applications (e.g. Cerner) and commitment to undertake training in electronic health record systems as requiredCurrent NSW State driver's licence (including P1 or above) and willingness to use for work purposes. This may include driving long distances across the LHD
