Are you an equine vet professional who has spent years building someone else's business and wondered what it would look like to build your own?
Lustre Lodge Thoroughbreds is inviting expressions of interest from a registered equine veterinarian seeking something genuinely different to the opportunity to establish and grow an independent equine practice from a working thoroughbred property on the NSW Central Coast, while taking shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the farm and horse operation.
Lustre Lodge provides the anchor client base, the infrastructure, and on-site accommodation. You bring the registration, the clinical skills, and the drive to build something of your own. This is not a traditional employment arrangement to it is a platform from which the right person can develop a thriving business, with the security of a guaranteed base and a profit share structure that rewards growth. Financial assistance to purchase necessary veterinary equipment is also available.

Quality schools, medical services, and the Gosford and Wyong hospital network are on your doorstep to making it a practical place to put down roots, not just a scenic one. And when you need the city, Sydney is approximately 70 minutes south via the M1.
The Package
We will consider a range of commercial options for the right candidate designed to encourage and reward you into the future. These options are from a base salary and profit share through to you leasing the entire business operations. Onsite accommodation in the form of a renovated 4 bedroom house can be included in any negotiations
Living on-site at the property is strongly preferred to ensure optimal oversight of the thoroughbred operation and availability for after-hours duties.
About Lustre Lodge
Lustre Lodge Thoroughbreds is an established broodmare agistment, foaling, and breeding operation currently carrying approximately 60 horses; a combination of in-foal broodmares, weanlings, and yearlings. The property has been designed as a breeding operation with 28 paddocks, large barn and vet crush.
Key Responsibilities
The right person will take genuine pride in how both the horses and the property are presented at all times to understanding that in the thoroughbred industry, first impressions matter and a well-kept farm and healthy horses reflects the standard of everything that happens within it you can:
Provide all veterinary services to Lustre Lodge as the anchor client to including reproductive management, foaling support, health monitoring, and preventative care.
Oversee day-to-day management of broodmares, foals, and horses on the property. Manage nutritional programs for mares at all stages (in foal, lactating, and dry) applying veterinary knowledge to optimise outcomes. Coordinate breeding cycles and liaise with stallion farms,
Assist with preparation and presentation of horses for major sales including Magic Millions and Inglis. Oversee the presentation and condition of horses, yards, and the property to the highest standard at all times.
Manage pasture programs including sowing, fertilising, weed control, and irrigation scheduling.
Maintain and repair fencing and property infrastructure to a consistently high standard.
Coordinate contractors and manage farm supply inventories.
Requisite administration and record keeping.
About You
Registered veterinarian with current APVMA accreditation and eligibility to practise in NSW with Minimum 3 years' post-graduate equine experience, with 5+ years preferred.
Visa sponsorship is available for suitable international candidates who meet all other requirements.
Strong interest in thoroughbred breeding and the racing industry.
Self-motivated and confident in building and managing clients.
Comfortable with the physical demands of farm and equine work, including after-hours and foaling season duties.
A keen eye for detail and genuine pride in the presentation of horses, yards, and the property.
An open mind, prepared to embrace new approaches, technologies, and ways of working.
Reliable, professional, and able to represent Lustre Lodge with integrity to clients and industry contacts.
