Catering Services Officer – Sarina Sugar Shed
Mackay Regional Council is seeking a motivated and customer‐focused Catering Services Officer to join the team at the Sarina Sugar Shed. This permanent‐part‐time role supports café and catering operations by preparing food and beverages, delivering quality service, and maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety and customer experience. Reporting to the Sarina Sugar Shed Coordinator, this position assists with the preparation and service of food and beverages for the café and catered events. You will play a key role in ensuring services run smoothly and efficiently while meeting customer requirements and maintaining exemplary kitchen and café standards.

Qualifications
* Previous experience in food and beverage preparation for cafés and/or catered events
* Barista experience and confidence in cash handling
* Experience with inventory control and stock rotation
* Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
* A positive attitude and the ability to work under pressure
* Attention to detail and a commitment to hygiene and safety standards
Essential Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years' experience
* Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate
* Food Safety Supervisor certificate
* Queensland 'C' Class Driver Licence (or interstate equivalent – transferable within 3 months)
* Availability to work a roster including evenings and weekends
Desirable Qualifications
* Queensland First Aid certificate
* Qualifications in commercial cookery, kitchen operations or hospitality
* Experience using POS systems such as SwiftPOS
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain an exemplary standard of kitchen and café hygiene
* Prepare food and beverage items in line with customer orders and menu requirements
* Assist with the development and preparation of menu items for on‐site catered events
* Deliver food and beverages while providing a high standard of customer service
* Support the smooth operation of café and catering services during service periods
* Assist with purchasing, invoicing and stock management through the POS system
* Monitor stock levels, labour and materials to support cost efficiencies
* Assist kitchen personnel during peak periods and with catering setup
* Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, food safety and hygiene
