About this Position
The Financial Account supports Wayside's mission to build community with no 'us and them' by ensuring the efficient operation of the finance function. This role is responsible for accurate financial processing, debtor management, transaction handling, invoicing, and managing accounts payable and receivable, while providing essential administrative support. Working within a small, dedicated in-house Finance team, this position would suit someone with around 3 years' experience who is looking to take the next step in their financial accounting career.
This is a part-time position, with the option to work 3-4 days a week.
Key Responsibilities
* General accounting, including bookkeeping, processing payments, and journals for revenue as well as accruals, using our financial system (Xero)
* Acting as the main point of contact for both internal and external finance queries.
* Monthly bank reconciliation and clearing, reconciliation of balance sheets, as well as maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register
* Management of the corporate credit card program and expense management system
* Maintaining accurate and timely lodgement of BAS, PAYG and Superannuation, ensuring the organisation complies with the relevant legislation.
* Other support as requested, including participating in the year-end audit process, reporting for contracts, assisting with budgeting, and forecasting.
About you
* A relevant tertiary qualification (or working towards) in Business Administration, Accounting or another relevant discipline
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in Financial Accounting
* Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
* Advanced computer skills in the use of Excel and other Microsoft Office products, as well as familiarity with Salesforce and Xero, or other similar software
* High-level administrative and organisational skills, as well as a collaborative working approach
* Membership of a professional accounting body will be well-regarded
* Experience in a non-profit environment will be well-regarded
