Our client is a leading Global company, specialising in the manufacture and sales of wiring harnesses, harness components and other electric wires that connect a car's various devices and convey power and signals to every corner of the vehicle. They have developed a wide range of innovative products that meet and exceed the expectations of global automobile manufacturers with an aim to make a better society through technology and high-quality products.
Due to program expansion, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Wiring Design Engineer (EDS) to join their Product Development team for an initial 6-month contract based at the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the EDS Program Target Setting process through key development milestones (Pre-PS, PS, PSC).
* Manage design releases, validation support, complexity tracking, and data alignment using CAD and FEDE systems.
* Maintain CAD model quality and support CAD2BoM alignment, including control models for assigned parts.
* Drive design maturity and 3D/2D documentation progression, working with cross-functional global teams.
* Use systems such as DPA, e2KS, AIMS, HCCR, WERS, JIRA to manage design progress, issue resolution, and compliance.
* Facilitate cost tracking, CMF processing, and BOM integration for all design changes.
* Support launch phases including build verification, reworks coordination, supplier collaboration, and APQP/PPAP target delivery.
* Escalate technical issues to ensure timely containment and resolution.
Skills and Experience Required:
* Over 5+ years of experience in automotive wiring harness design or Electrical Distribution Systems.
* Strong command of CATIA V5 (essential)
* Solid understanding of GPDS processes, design milestones, and automotive engineering protocols.
* Excellent planning, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
* Previous experience with OEM or Tier 1 automotive suppliers highly desirable.
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aeronautical Engineering (or equivalent).
