Position: Spray Painter
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $78,000 to $90,000 plus superannuation per annum

Our client is seeking a skilled Spray Painter to join their team located in Virginia, Queensland.
As a Spray Painter you will be part of a team responsible for preparing surfaces and applying a range of paint using a variety of techniques for the desired finish. For the painting of trucks, parts, cranes, buses, caravans, heavy machinery and other industrial equipment. The job requires flexible schedule and offsite work may also be required
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Surface preparation – clean, sand, fill and prime surfaces to be painted, removing rust and other materials
2. Masking – apply masking tape and coverings to protect areas not being painted
3. Paint mixing – select and mix paints and coatings to achieve the correct colour, consistency and specifications for the job
4. Application – operate spray guns and equipment to apply primer, base coats and clear coats evenly
5. Quality control – inspect painted products to ensure they meet quality standards, monitoring for drips, runs and inconsistencies
6. Buffing – operate buffing machines, apply polish to remove imperfections and achieve a desired level of shine
7. Maintenance – clear and maintain spray guns, hoses and other equipment to ensure optimal performance
8. Safety – follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Requirements:
1. Certificate II or III in relevant field
2. At least one (1) year of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above
3. A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience as a spray painter
4. Proven experience as a spray painter for industrial equipment
5. Valid drivers licence
6. Must be available to work flexible hours based on project needs.
7. Offsite work may be required, including travel to sites or field locations.
8. Attention to detail – crucial for preparing surfaces, matching colours and ensuring high-quality finish
9. Hand eye coordination - essential for precise control of the spray gun and even paint application
10. Colour matching – ability to accurately mix and match paint colours to specifications
11. Technical skills – proficiency in operating and maintaining spray painting equipment and tools
12. Communication – ability to collaborate with team members and supervisors on project requirements and timelines.
