The Role

Due to continued growth our client is looking for a bright ambitious person to join us as the Deputy Operations Manager and expand the depth and strength of our Operations Team.
The role can be carried out remotely and you will be able to work anywhere in Australia. The team will provide you with all the equipment required to carry out the role.
Be the main point of contact for selected clients, from mobilisation and into operations
Be the line manager for selected operational staff, responsible for their performance and development
Be the point of contact and SME for selected areas of AEMO or other market related matters
Help identify and support the development of complementary new services to existing clients and to new markets
Deputise for the Operations Manager in full when necessary
Become part of the weekly on-call 24x7 Duty Manager roster, where you will be the:
o first escalation point for the Operations Controller (OC)
o receive alarms and phone calls when the OC is otherwise engaged
o run regular operational stand-up calls to co-ordinate resources for a shift, and
o escalate to the Operations Manager if needed.
About You
At least 5 years' experience in NEM real-time market operations, from generator trading,
AEMO real-time operations or some real-time market operations exposure from a Network Services Provider
You will be naturally fascinated by how real-time electricity market operations works and excel in describing this to customers and the team.
You will have been exposed to 24x7 operations and Duty Management regimes and
understand how to manage them for yourself and your staff
You will have managed small teams and the performance and development of individuals
You will be looking for a fresh challenge, perhaps wanting to step up and take more responsibility or looking for more freedom of action.
Requirements
5+ years' strong experience of real-time bidding and dispatch operations in the NEM
Deep market knowledge of the NEM, including NEMDE, forecasting, constraints, FCAS, the NER, and AEMO real-time operations processes
Some experience managing real-time operations teams and the performance and development of individuals
Some experience managing customer or equivalent stakeholder-type relationships
An operational bent with an appreciation of physical assets and the market
Able to operate in a dynamic environment with evolving processes and systems
Level-headed and able to work in high pressure situations to make clear and effective decisions with imperfect information
Strong command of spoken and written English
A strong numerical ability
Confident in IT systems
Proficient to advanced MS Excel or other tools to manage large volumes of data
