An exciting new opportunity has been created for a General Manager to join our team! This is a first‑of‑its‑kind opportunity to join a small but growing company and make a real[name difference.
This position carries significant responsibilities and a commensurate remuneration package, including performance bonuses.
As the general manager, you will take ownership of all facets of the business, freeing up the director to work strategically on the business.
Strategic Leadership
Advance the company's mission,'adresse objectives, and profitability goals.
Assist the MD to plan, develop, and implement strategies for business growth, revenue generation, and operational improvement.
Report regularly (monthly and as needed) to the MD and Board on financial and operational performance.
Identify and implement continuous‑improvement initiatives across all areas of business.
Operational Management
Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and adherence to company standards.
Monitor performance through activity reports, KPIs, and financial statements.
Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Manage budgets, cost control, and resource allocation effectively.
Drive lean and efficient processes within steel processing and materials handling operations.
Be willing to participate hands‑on in operations when required (this is not a "figurehead" role).
People & Culture
Lead, develop, and motivate staff to achieve high performance and morale.
Oversee recruitment, training, performance reviews.
Foster a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Analyse financial data to assess progress toward strategic goals.
Maintain strong financial discipline and identify opportunities for cost efficiencies.
Systems & Compliance
Oversee the effective use of business software and systems, ensure data security and regular system backups.

Skills & Experience
Proven experience in business or operations management, ideally within the steel, construction, or manufacturing sectors. You will have strong references from previous employers and work colleagues.
Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire, coach and lead a small team.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
Knowledge of lean methodologies and process improvement.
Understanding of steel products, processing and materials handling equipment.
Excellent communication, planning, and organizational abilities.
