The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) for the Children's Intensive Care Unit focuses on clinical leadership, research, service development, and collaboration to enhance child health outcomes in critical care.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Leadership in policy development and review, and clinical practice change
* Leadership in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives
* Supporting staff education and skill enhancement
* Collaborating with state-wide paediatric health organisations and stakeholders.
* Clinical expertise in complex care and family-based consultancy
* Nursing leadership in research and translation of research to evidenced-based care

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead, educate, and advocate for best practice while working alongside a collaborative and highly skilled multidisciplinary team. This position is Temporary full time until 27 December 2026.

What you'll be doing

The Clinical Nurse / Midwife Consultant ( CNC/CMC) will provide expert clinical care and education to children and their families within a defined specialty.

The role provides a consultancy and educational focus for ward based nurses in the care of children and their families.

In collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders, the CNC/CMC will undertake primary responsibility for on-going education, development and evaluation of clinical practice.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

* Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a minimum of 7 years full time post qualification experience, with at least five years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field.
* Relevant approved post registration qualification in field of practice at Master's level or working towards or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
* Proven clinical leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
