As a part of this journey, we're looking for a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join our Canberra Urban or Transport teams. This role offers flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to contribute to some of the region's most impactful community development projects.
As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll play a key role in shaping communities through the design and delivery of urban and transport infrastructure projects covering roads, drainage, earthworks, and public spaces from concept through to construction. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers, planners, architects, and environmental scientists, you'll help create integrated environments that enhance liveability and sustainability.
You'll also mentor junior engineers, support their technical development, and contribute to a culture of learning and innovation. We're looking for someone who's passionate about urban development and/or transport designs applying national and local ACT standards.

Day to day tasks would involve:
* Lead and manage civil or transport infrastructure projects across roads, highways, utilities, and transport, ensuring high technical standards and commercial viability.
* Oversee project deliverables including pricing, bidding, client liaison, and coordination of drafting teams.
* Prepare conceptual and detailed design drawings in line with statutory requirements and quality standards.
* Provide specialist input into feasibility studies, civil design, and technical reporting.
* Build strong client relationships and manage scope changes to ensure successful project outcomes.
* Maintain direct engagement with clients throughout project lifecycles, including reporting, negotiations, and ensuring alignment with expectations.
To be successful for this role you'll need:
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
* Minimum 5 years working experience in consulting field and/or recognised as a senior engineer in your current role.
* Professional Engineering registration.
* Strong technical expertise and ability to produce accurate design documentation.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proven experience in time management and organisational skills including the ability to manage resources and delegate tasks effectively.
* Ongoing commitment to professional development through self-study, training and seminars, and maintaining your Continual Professional Development (CPD)
