Civil / Structural Engineer
to provide specialist engineering services across new developments, major capital works, and maintenance programs that support critical port operations.
About the Role
As a Civil / Structural Engineer at GPC, you will be responsible for delivering all engineering phases of capital and maintenance projects—from concept and design through to execution, contract management and project close-out. You will support the integrity, performance and longevity of GPC's assets by providing technical expertise, undertaking inspections, solving engineering challenges, and contributing to long-term planning.
Reporting to the Loading/Unloading Engineering Superintendent, you will work closely with operations, maintenance, construction supervisors, contractors and external agencies to ensure safe, timely and cost-effective project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage engineering projects through the full lifecycle in line with GPC's Project Management Procedure.
• Prepare, assess and evaluate tenders; provide recommendations ensuring quality, cost and schedule alignment.
• Inspect GPC assets and provide technical advice, instructions and engineering solutions.
• Develop project budgets, monitor financial performance and deliver works within approved allocations.
• Foster strong working relationships with Operations and Maintenance to support operational needs.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure optimal use of resources.
• Support a zero-harm culture by promoting safe work practices and meeting HS&E requirements.
• Provide technical recommendations to enhance plant performance, reliability and standardisation.
• Monitor compliance with engineering standards and contribute to planning and budgeting within Technical Services.
• Manage and monitor contractor and consultant performance in line with scope, standards and GPC expectations.
About You
You are an experienced civil/structural engineer who thrives in a complex operational environment and enjoys working on varied projects across infrastructure, plant and heavy industrial facilities. You bring strong project management capability, sound judgement, and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
Essential Qualifications
• Tertiary qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• RPEQ or Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), or willingness to work toward certification.
• C-Class driver licence.
• Ability to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).

• Strong understanding of engineering concepts, principles and maintenance management lifecycle.
• Extensive experience in civil/structural engineering within an operating or industrial environment.
• Demonstrated project management and contractor management skills.
• Sound knowledge of procurement processes, tenders and governance.
• Ability to monitor and report costs, analyse data and meet financial expectations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive internal and external relationships.
