**The role

The Executive Director, Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (MHAOD) Strategy Planning provides senior leadership to drive reform and service development across Queensland's MHAOD system. The role is responsible for system-wide mental health service planning, the design and implementation of evidence-based models of care, and the delivery of major initiatives funded through the Mental Health Levy.

Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, System Policy and Planning (SPPD), the Executive Director leverages a high level of expertise in MHAOD system planning and service delivery to influence policy, shape investment decisions, and deliver sustainable reform.

The role builds strong, strategic partnerships with Hospital and Health Services, education providers, industry partners and government agencies to enable integrated planning, inform service purchasing, and support a high-performing and sustainable health care for Queensland.

The successful person

The role requires a highly credible, strategic and collaborative senior leader with:

Proven expertise in developing and implementing innovative, evidence-based solutions to complex service planning challenges.

Strong experience delivering strategic initiatives and clearly articulating priorities to diverse stakeholders in complex and sensitive environments.

Demonstrated success in leading organisational change and best-practice initiatives that deliver measurable improvements in clinical performance or organisational culture in a large complex organisation.

Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to provide high-level advice to inform the Deputy Director-General, Director-General, and Minister for Health and Ambulance Services about mental health alcohol and other drugs strategy, policy and planning.

Demonstrated ability to operate as a collegiate and collaborative member of a multi-disciplinary executive team.

About System Policy and Planning Division

SPPD is responsible for leading policy development and service planning across the Queensland Health system. SPPD works to ensure that services are delivered in a responsible and sustainable way, and that they are designed in way that elevates the voice of clinicians and meet the diverse needs of Queenslanders. Underpinning all SPPD's business is a commitment to progressing Queensland Health's health equity agenda for First Nations people.

The key functions of SPPD include developing policies and legislation, developing service plans that describe the forecast need for health services in Queensland, facilitating the co-design of models of care, partnering with Hospital and Health Services, working with researchers and the research industry, leading Queensland Health's state budget

process and collaborating with other government agencies to progress national health reforms.

Through evidence-based policy and planning, SPPD contributes to the delivery of high quality and reliable health services for all Queenslanders
