**Family Support Specialist - Mobile Youth Outreach**

Job Description

We are committed to working in partnership with young people, their families, and support networks to reduce the number of children and young people experiencing avoidable short-term remand.

This role creates opportunities for young people to connect, be heard, and build positive relationships while addressing the factors that contribute to their involvement in the justice system.

We provide quality services to children and their caregivers in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas, and capital cities.

In this part-time position, you'll provide practical case management support to young people aged 10–17 years and their families in Wagga and surrounding areas, focusing on reducing avoidable short-term remand.

You will make a difference by:

* Providing practical case management and support to young people on short-term remand or at risk of remand, with a focus on wellbeing, mentoring, and pathways to education or employment
* Strengthening family capacity through a partnership-based, client-centred approach that promotes stability, connection, and long-term positive outcomes
* Identifying additional needs and linking young people and families to appropriate legal, housing, and support services to prevent further justice system involvement

You're genuinely passionate about advocating for young people and ensuring they have the support they need to avoid unnecessary short-term remand. With experience in trauma-informed practice and strengths-based approaches, you bring a deep understanding of the challenges faced by young people involved in the justice system.

This role requires:

* Experience in designing and delivering innovative and creative youth-focused programs, ideally within a justice or early intervention context, using a paired facilitation model
* A Diploma/Degree qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, or a relevant field is desirable, or significant relevant experience
* Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities, with a strong understanding of culturally safe and responsive practice
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with young people and their families to establish meaningful goals and support plans
* Experience in practical case management, data collection, record-keeping, and strong case noting skills to support effective service delivery and advocacy

At Save the Children Australia, we invest in the development and wellbeing of our people. Our workforce is approximately 600 people strong, and proudly diverse.

It takes all types of people to do the challenging work we do. We are diverse personalities, backgrounds, and talents, embracing our differences as one strong and united team.

We see and celebrate the unique value you bring to our organisation, and offer a range of rewards for your effort, including:

* Generous award rate salary (Level 4.1 – currently $43.08 per hour) plus full salary packaging benefits
* Extra leave to use in a range of ways to ensure you're able to perform at your optimum
* Supportive Managers – we provide professional supervision training and monthly supervision sessions so you can feel supported and build a career
* Support for workplace wellness, including access to our free, confidential Employee Wellbeing Program
* Internal deployment and secondment opportunities, and opportunities to progress within one of Australia's largest non-profits

We'd love to hear from you. Submit your cover letter and resume by clicking on one of the buttons in the 'Apply' section.
