Corporate Affairs
The Corporate Affairs Division supports SBS through a range of internal and external stakeholder engagement, including government and regulatory affairs; community engagement and outreach; codes of practice advice; corporate communications advice and management; audience relations management; and secretariat support to the SBS Board.
The Role
Reporting into the Indigenous Engagement and Partnerships Manager, within our Engagement and CSR team, this role will see you support key Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders within SBS (including NITV), including:
1. Ongoing engagement and consultation
2. Implementing the engagement plan in line with Community Impact Strategy
3. Providing analysis of Indigenous policy matters and advice as necessary
4. Sourcing research relevant to matters to inform SBS in relation to content, protocol and operational matters pertaining to First Nations Australians.
You will work as part of the broader Engagement and Corporate Social Responsibility Team to ensure that relevant community and cultural considerations are addressed in the Team’s work and outputs (e.g., providing advice and assistance on the resources and other content creation where required).
It is a requirement of this role that incumbents are fully vaccinated with an approved Covid-19 vaccination in line with the ATAGI guidelines which include booster shots. We do however have a medical exemption process and we would be happy to discuss your application should this be applicable to you.
About you
We are looking for a skilled communicator from the Indigenous sector, with excellent networks, organisation and writing skills.
You should also ideally have:
5. A strong understanding of Indigenous communities, cultures and protocols and an ability to communicate sensitively, respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
6. Demonstrable experience working within the Indigenous sector and/or within Indigenous Community
7. Interpersonal, influencing and relationship-building skills, including capability to build relationships, trust and work effectively with external stakeholders and partners at all levels
8. Strong organisational and administrative skills
9. Strong time management skills
10. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role with a strong focus on project management, communications, research or related area
Desirable:
11. Media, communications, journalism or editorial background
12. Ability to interpret and analyse data with a strategic mindset
