Shape the future of teaching excellence — design transformative learning experiences that empower educators and enrich student outcomes across a leading Australian university.
At Macquarie, we believe great teaching changes lives — and that no one teaches alone. Macquarie Academy is a hub for educators to grow, connect and share what works. Together, we build confidence and capability, explore new approaches and celebrate the impact of teaching excellence.
The Macquarie Academy team includes active educators from every faculty guiding everything we do, keeping it relevant, collaborative and grounded in real classroom practice. As Senior Education Designer, you'll contribute to practical, flexible professional development and mentoring programs, as well as pathways like Advance Higher Education Fellowships to help develop and recognise our colleagues' expertise.
Bring your passion for teaching to a community that supports, values and inspires the future of learning at Macquarie. That's You to the Power of Us.
About the Role
The Senior Education Designer plays a key role in the design, development and delivery of engaging and effective academic development programs, initiatives and resources within Macquarie Academy and across the University. You will collaborate with colleagues from the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) Portfolio, the broader Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Portfolio, and all Faculties to create high-quality professional development experiences that enhance the educational experience for both staff and students.
In this role, you will also provide leadership and guidance to the educational design team, ensuring the delivery of innovative, accessible and pedagogically sound resources aligned with the University's strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing, developing and implementing evidence-based professional learning programs, initiatives and resources across multiple delivery modes — including workshops, online modules, short courses, structured programs and communities of practice — that build academic capability in learning, teaching and assessment.
* Facilitating professional learning activities for academic staff across disciplines, including workshops, seminars, structured programs and events.
* Providing expert advice, consultation and coaching to academic staff and leaders on teaching practice, curriculum design and assessment.
* Building strong and effective working relationships with faculties, departments and central teams to ensure programs are responsive to identified needs.
* Managing assigned projects or program components, including timelines, deliverables and evaluation activities.
* Collecting and analysing feedback and evaluation data to assess impact and inform continuous improvement.
* Preparing reports, briefings and supporting documentation related to program outcomes and effectiveness.
* Maintaining current knowledge of emerging trends and best practice in higher education learning and teaching, including digital and AI-enabled pedagogies.
About Us
Macquarie Academy is the University's centre for educator development, dedicated to supporting teaching excellence through professional learning, mentoring and recognition pathways. The Academy sits within the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) Portfolio as part of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Portfolio.
About You
You are a skilled education professional with a genuine passion for supporting others to teach well. You bring deep expertise in contemporary learning and teaching practice, along with the creativity and interpersonal skills to design and deliver professional development experiences that resonate with diverse academic audiences. You thrive in collaborative environments, bring strong project coordination abilities, and are energised by the opportunity to contribute to institution‐wide educational excellence.
Selection Criteria
