The key duties of the position include:
This position is within the Corporate Branch and is part of the Business Services Team. The Assistant Director, Property & Services is a strong leader who works under limited direction exercising reasonable autonomy and accountability. This position is responsible for managing and/or providing detailed and accurate technical and strategic advice relating to Property & Security matters and facility services specific to the section’s core responsibilities.
Key duties
* Deliver high quality customer service to both internal and external stakeholders, fostering a positive reputation and building trust in property and security operations.
* Develop, implement, and maintain security and facility management policies and procedures, ensuring these are clearly communicated and consistently followed throughout the organisation.
* Escalate and manage security incident responses and complex security clearances, ensuring appropriate action is taken in accordance with established protocols.
* Coordinate pre-employment screening requirements for DTA personnel, including conducting police checks, tracking relevant documents, and following up as needed to ensure compliance.
* Oversee procurement activities related to security and property, ensuring efficient and compliant processes are adhered to.
* Support emergency response functions, fulfilling roles and responsibilities as outlined in the DTA’s Emergency Response Plan. Deliver day-to-day operational property and security services, ensuring adherence to relevant policies, protocols, and procedures.
* Lease management, facilities maintenance, and property compliance.
* Office management, including liaison with landlords, office access arrangements, and parking administration.
* Security liaison, including office access pass activation and related functions.
* The responsibilities for this role include overseeing staff members, as well as carrying out additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Eligibility
Security Clearance level required: NV2 (or ability to obtain and maintain).
To be eligible for employment with the DTA applicants must be an Australian citizen.
An applicant's suitability for employment with the DTA will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes an Australian Police check.

The DTA Enterprise Agreement 2024-2027 takes this into account and provides compensation for an individual when they are required to work, or be contactable, outside of usual working hours. This includes access to overtime, restriction allowance, flextime, time off in lieu (TOIL) and other benefits.
