Crisdale Recruitment is excited to partner with a prominent regional shire to recruit a highly experienced Management Accountant to be based locally in Newman. Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and review monthly financial processes including reconciliations, accounting period closures, and reporting for payroll, rates, assets, and other core functions.
* Prepare and compile monthly management reports for internal stakeholders, including executive and departmental managers.
* Oversee the maintenance of key financial registers including grants, plant, and assets, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
* Monitor and ensure correct calculation and application of cost recovery rates, including plant recovery, employee on‑costs, charge‑out rates, and overhead allocations.
* Support the preparation and lodgment of taxation obligations such as BAS, FBT, and superannuation payments.
* Assist with the preparation of annual and interim audits and implementing recommendations as required.
* Contribute to the preparation and review of the annual budget and budget reviews, including fee and charge justifications, capital and operating estimates, and asset lifecycle costings.
* Support grant acquittal processes and reporting, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
* Assist with requirements under AASB 13 relating to asset fair valuation and related disclosures.
* Ensure continuous improvement and compliance with the Shire's financial policies, procedures, and administrative practices.
* Support the development and implementation of a new chart of accounts and finance system (ERP).
Essential Criteria
* Degree in accounting or finance
* Experience within Local Government
* Minimum three years' experience in financial systems.
* Developing ability to read and apply legislation, regulations and local laws.
* Proven ability to undertake duties in an ethical manner and adhere to confidentiality provisions.
* Strong self‑management, time‑management, and organisational skills with the ability to work autonomously.
* Sound keyboarding, computer and word‑processing skills with a high degree of accuracy.
* Good initiative, time‑management and organisational skills.
* Proven ability to supervise staff.
* Demonstrated ability to self‑manage and successfully complete workload from home.
