Opportunity
Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Customer Service Officer to join their team in Lithgow on a temporary term up to 12 months.
Reporting to the Senior Customer Service Officer, you will provide consistently high level of quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders. This role serves the community as the initial point of contact, welcoming customers and assisting with enquiries and complaints. The ideal applicant will thrive in a fast‐paced, high‐volume environment and work under pressure to meet required deadlines.
Responsibilities
* Provide quality front‐line customer service to all internal and external stakeholders.
* Work effectively with other departments within Council.
* Attend and assist with administrative duties including a high volume of phone calls, website and counter enquiries, cash receipting and emails.
* Receive and deal with complaints and requests for information or services.
* Handle rates and water billing enquiries.
* Receive and balance payments and remittances arising from the front counter.
* Manage bookings surrounding the hire of Council facilities.
* Process applications for 602 & 603 certificates.
* Assist customers with payment plans.
* Assist with the processing of customer forms for Council services including Pensioner Rebate Applications, Companion Animal Registrations and Change of Address.
Qualifications
* Experience in the delivery of quality customer service to internal and external customers.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience in cash receipting and reconciliations.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
* Class C driver's licence.
* Commitment to integrity and honesty.
* Commitment to and understanding of Work Health & Safety.
Additional preferred experience: Local Government related legislation knowledge, qualifications or training in office administration, conflict and dispute resolution skills, and knowledge of Council structure and functions.
Eligibility: Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident, or have the right to live and work in Australia.
Salary and Benefits
* Between $1,176.78 and $1,301.14 per week, commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.
* Temporary term up to 12 months.
