Avon Community Services is a not-for-profit charity that has proudly served Wheatbelt communities for almost 40 years with dedicated youth centres, programs and services. We are passionate about providing opportunities and supporting local young people to meet their needs and aspirations.
About the role
As a Youth Worker you will support the delivery of group programs and drop-in to:
Maintain a welcoming, inclusive and safe space for young people from diverse backgrounds, which includes cultural safety for Aboriginal young people.
Plan and deliver engaging programs and projects with and for young people using a strengths-based, youth participation approach.
Mentor and/or provide individual support including case management to young people.
About you
You are passionate about using strengths-based approaches to working with young people and being a positive role model and mentor for them.
To thrive in this role you will have:
Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to build and maintain rapport and trust, facilitate groups/programs and work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated reliability to work autonomously and without direct supervision.
Understanding of youth participation principles and practices and/or experience in project planning and implementation.
Knowledge or experience in the development of case plans and safety plans.
Successful candidates must have or be willing to obtain a relevant qualification; obtain and maintain a current National Police Clearance, Working With Children Check, and an unrestricted Drivers Licence, First Aid Certificate.
