Oracle Database Administrator & Data Architect | Federal Government | EL1
12 months + 24 months extensions | Baseline | Hybrid | Multi-state
The Opportunity
Our client, a Federal Government agency, requires an experienced Oracle Database Administrator and Data Architect to manage, optimise and modernise their critical database infrastructure. This role combines hands-on DBA operations with strategic architecture work, including PaaS migration initiatives and infrastructure modernisation.
You will manage SQL Server and Oracle platforms, lead lifecycle upgrades, develop automation solutions and ensure security compliance across enterprise database systems.
Contract: 12 months
Extension: two 12-month extensions
Start: March 2026
Location: QLD, ACT, VIC, NSW, SA or TAS (hybrid arrangements)
Classification: EL1 equivalent
Security: Must be able to obtain Baseline clearance

Key Responsibilities
* Manage and administer database systems to ensure optimal performance, availability and security
* Design, document, implement and maintain infrastructure solutions based on SQL/Oracle platforms
* Collaborate with business applications, enterprise architecture and technology teams on database solutions
* Manage platform and business application incidents and requests with high customer service standards
* Lead technology projects including lifecycle upgrades and PaaS migration initiatives
* Develop and document automation and monitoring solutions to improve operational efficiency
* Maintain security and compliance aligned to organisational standards, ISM and Essential Eight
* Document resolutions and operating procedures to support root cause analysis and continuous improvement
Qualifications, accreditations and experience
* Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or relevant industry experience
* 5+ years’ experience in IT engineering, design / build or Senior DBA
* Certifications in Database technology (MS-SQL, Oracle, Other) are highly desirable
* Practical knowledge of accountable technologies and implementation / operational support strategies
* Technology Accountabilities include:
o SQL Server (MS-SQL, Azure SQL)
o Oracle Server
