**Your new role**
The Provost is the chief academic officer of the University and an eminent member of the Senior Executive Team (SET), routinely acting on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor. Curtin operates on a foundation of academic groups which serve as custodians of curriculum and uphold high standards of excellence in learning and teaching, research, and engagement. These groups consist of faculties, schools, and centres, specialising in an array of disciplines. The Provost holds executive responsibility for Curtin's four faculty Pro Vice-Chancellors, and the Directors of the Centre for Aboriginal Studies, the Centre for Enabling Pathways, the Kalgoorlie campus and Gender Equity and Inclusion.
This position ensures accountability and governance across all facets of academic capability, performance, and advancement. The Provost plays a crucial role in shaping the University's strategic leadership and effective management, through leading the faculties and by offering specialised advice and support to the Vice-Chancellor. The role assists both Council and the Vice-Chancellor to govern the University, including as Chair of Courses Committee of Council and various management committees. The Provost also drives the University's strategic plan through these groups and by leading key University-wide projects. As a role model, champion and ally responsible for fostering equity, opportunity, and inclusion for all, the Provost directly oversees diversity, inclusion and belonging initiatives and programs at Curtin. With the Vice-Chancellor, the Provost sponsors and oversees Curtin's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Strategy to elevate the voices and perspectives of First Nations people.

**Knowledge, Experience and Skills**
**Demonstrated**:
- Capacity to lead, manage, and collaborate at a senior executive level across a broad portfolio focused on support for, and services to, the academic core of the University.
- Experience in the management of significant budgets and delivery of those budgets against identified priorities and resources.
- Ability to understand, assess, and meet competing needs within a complex environment of limited resources.
- Capacity to inspire and enthuse through effective communication at all levels and in all formats.
- Current or recent research activity and publication.
- Capacity to embrace innovation to the benefit of the organization.
- Ability to foster an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Understanding of, and commitment to, our University's values, signature behaviours, and Code of Conduct.
**WORK REQUIREMENTS**
- Interstate and/or overseas travel may be required.
- Ability to work outside of normal office hours when required.
