Position Information
Opening in 2021, Barramurra Public School features 54 state of the art classroom spaces which are designed to facilitate innovative, flexible and collaborative teaching practices. Barramurra Public School has 4 support classes catering for students with a moderate intellectual disability and autism. The school encourages a holistic and inclusive approach, supported by strong student wellbeing programs. Barramurra Public School serves a rapidly growing multicultural community of 1230 students with 62% of our students having a language background other than English. Our students come from 30 different countries and speak 65 different languages. 3% of our students identify as Aboriginal and our students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds.

Specific Selection Criteria
* Approval to teach English as an additional language or dialect or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in English as an additional language primary or dialect qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team to support the literacy and English language skills of EAL/D students, including New Arrival students, using knowledge of the EAL/D progressions and incorporate EAL/D strategies into daily classroom practice.
* Demonstrated ability to use effective classroom management skills and wellbeing practices to create a classroom environment that is supportive, inclusive, engaging and that fosters a culture of high expectations.
* Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work collaboratively in a variety of teams and build positive relationships with the learning support team, classroom teachers and the wider school community.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
If applicable, engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher English as an Additional Language or Dialect qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 12 months.
