Around half of Queensland's trade, by tonnage, passes through our ports at Weipa, Abbot Point, Mackay, and Hay Point, which makes us one of Queensland's largest Port Authorities. We take great care to provide safe, and competitive seaport services to efficiently facilitate imports and exports through our Queensland ports.
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor – Facilities and Utilities, this role delivers cost effective water and drainage services to existing and potential customers and undertakes shipping activities across a muti-commodity port, the Port of Mackay.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
• To hold a current Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) or the ability to obtain a MSIC.
• Relevant Trade Certificate and work experience in industrial and household plumbing activities.
• Extensive experience as a licensed plumber programming and undertaking installation and maintenance activities.
• Knowledge of trenching and shoring techniques.
• Ability to understand and read plans and specifications.
• Sound experience in general civil and structural construction and maintenance.
• Experience in allocation of resources.
• Competent in welding and oxy cutting.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, apprentices and work experience students, providing regular feedback and building relationships.
