You will use your specialist expertise to investigate non‐compliance with legislation administered by Biosecurity Queensland to protect Queensland's ecosystems, our industries and our way of life as part of the National Biosecurity System.
Biosecurity Queensland (BQ) plays a leadership role in the biosecurity system in collaboration with its stakeholders. BQ leads the Queensland Government's efforts to protect our way of life, environment, biodiversity, human and animal health, industries and economy from plant and animal pest and disease threats. Through supporting the collective efforts of its stakeholders and all Queenslanders, BQ will continue to protect our state and Australia from emerging plant and animal pests and diseases and effectively manage existing ones.
SIP: Strategy, Investment and Performance (SIP) delivers a range of services to support Biosecurity Queensland (BQ). SIP partners with BQ program areas to provide specialised advice on best business practice and technology to serve internal (and sometimes external) customers and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities
* Undertake complex investigations to detect non‐compliance with legislation administered by Biosecurity Queensland
* Provide mentoring and training to operational authorised officers on undertaking investigations and applying legislation
* Develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships at local, state and national levels
Requirements
* Possess a current "C" class drivers' licence.
* Be prepared to travel intrastate and work outside normal business hours to undertake duties associated with the role (only in limited circumstances).
* Commit to obtain vaccinations (or provide evidence of prior vaccinations) for animal or plant borne diseases such as Q fever.
* Be able to drive for extended periods (within driver standards) and carry out limited manual tasks in the field.
This role requires the ability to undertake high level investigations and determine appropriate compliance actions. Previous experience undertaking investigations, investigation management and/or presentation of oral evidence in court and/or tribunal is highly regarded.
