Emergency Response Specialist

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services is seeking a highly skilled individual to join their team in providing emergency response services across the region. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for responding to fire and other emergency incidents, promoting community safety and emergency preparedness through various initiatives, and developing and maintaining competencies through regular training and drills.

Mandatory Requirements

* Australian Permanent Resident Status
* Live or work within a reasonable distance of an auxiliary fire station
* Manual C Class driver's licence
* Employer's written consent to attend incidents and emergencies (where applicable)

Your Commitment

* Attend incident and emergency calls – 50% of calls as a day worker with routine hours, or 30% of calls as a shift worker or with non-routine hours
* Attend 75% of regular drill and training sessions
* Obtain an MRV licence, at your own expense, within 12 months of employment
* Participate in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs, including first aid/emergency care
* Comply with QFES policies and procedures including code of conduct, safety and personal presentation standards

Your Key Responsibilities

* Respond as a member of a team to fire and other emergency incidents
* Promote community safety and emergency preparedness through various initiatives
* Develop and maintain competencies through regular training and drills
* Maintain attendance standards for emergency incidents and training
* Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment safely and effectively
* Contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities; maintain and repair operational equipment
* Contribute to incident reporting and general station administration as required
* Promote a positive team approach and comply with legislative, policy and procedural requirements
* Communicate effectively with QFES personnel, other emergency service providers and the community
* Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to health principles and procedures
