About the role
Reporting to the Assistant Accountant and collaborating closely with the CFO and broader finance team, you will deliver accurate financial processing, strong governance and reliable payroll operations across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing financial processing for allocated entities, including journals, reconciliations, accruals and preparing accounts to trial balance
* Producing accurate, timely month‑end reporting including schedules, variance analysis and insights
* Preparing and monitoring multi‑entity cashflow forecasts, including liquidity, creditor timing and intercompany movements
* Leading end‑to‑end payroll for approximately 150 employees, ensuring accuracy and full compliance with awards, legislation and statutory obligations (superannuation, ACIRT, LSL, STP, etc.)
* Maintaining strong internal controls and compliance with ATO, Fair Work and accounting standards
* Producing audit‑ready financial documentation
* Maintaining financial systems and creating clear, reliable Excel‑based reporting, dashboards and models
* Identifying process improvements, automation opportunities and system enhancements
* Providing accurate financial and payroll advice to stakeholders
* Maintaining asset registers, loan schedules, prepayments and other financial records
About you
You'll be a detail‑driven finance professional who thrives in a structured, multi‑entity finance environment.
Essential experience:
* Demonstrated bookkeeping/accounting experience in a multi‑entity environment
* Proven experience managing payroll for a medium‑sized workforce
* Strong technical accounting capability — reconciliations, month‑end, trial balance
* High proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, modelling)
* Sound understanding of financial statements and accounting principles
* Excellent communication skills and ability to provide clear, accurate financial advice
* High attention to detail, accuracy and organisational capability
Desirable:
* Experience with construction industry payroll (ACIRT, LSL, allowances)
* Experience improving financial processes or systems
* Accounting/Finance qualification (Degree preferred; Cert IV minimum)
* Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
