What You'll Contribute To
We are seeking a proactive, relationship-focused Health, Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner to support operations and projects across our three Regional Airports: Townsville, Mount Isa and Longreach. This is a dynamic and hands‐on role ideal for a capable safety professional who enjoys variety, autonomy, and meaningful stakeholder engagement.
Reporting to the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager – Regional Airports, the Business Partner provides broad-based WHS and wellbeing support across Townsville, Mount Isa and Longreach Airports. You will work closely with local airport teams, contractors, tenants and project managers to embed QAL's Health & Safety Management System (HSMS), strengthen safety culture, deliver wellbeing initiatives, and support both day‐to‐day operations and infrastructure projects. The role involves regular travel between ports and requires a confident safety professional who can operate independently, build strong relationships, and adapt to diverse environments.
Qualifications & Experience
* Tertiary WHS qualification (minimum Cert IV Workplace Health and Safety).
* 2–5 years' experience in operational Workplace Health and Safety roles (aviation, infrastructure, projects or similar).
* Experience with incident investigations, high‐risk work controls and contractor safety management.
* Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety legislation, ISO 45001 and modern safety practices.
* Strong organisational capability and ability to manage competing priorities.
* Confident communicator with excellent analytical and reporting skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and WHS/safety management platforms.
* Ability to adhere to QAL's Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP) including pre‐employment testing.
* Ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) and complete a Police Check.
