Join our team at Derbarl Yerrigan as a Communications Officer (50D Identified position), where your work will directly support the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Western Australia.In this role, you will assist the Graphics and Social Media Coordinator with managing day-to-day social media content, capturing photography and videography at events, designing promotional material, and contributing to broader communications strategies. You'll help bring our mission and community stories to life through engaging, culturally respectful and visually compelling media.This role is a fantastic opportunity to grow and develop your skills in your area of creative strength—whether it's photography and video, illustration, social media management, or graphic design. Whether you're studying, newly graduated, or looking to expand your portfolio, you'll have the chance to design meaningful creatives that promote health education and positive outcomes in Aboriginal communities.Use your creativity for a cause—contribute to health equity and Indigenous-led healthcare solutions while developing a rewarding and impactful career.Key Duties & Responsibilities Include But Not Limited ToWork in conjunction with Graphics and Social Media Coordinator on a social media content & strategy ensuring posts are culturally safe and attractive to the Aboriginal audience.Provide design support to the Graphics and Social Media Coordinator on print and digital projects.Attend official and community events as Photographer and manage the Derbarl photo database.Using creative solutions to work with Derbarl’s Clinical Service teams to create supporting materialsEngaging with various communication channels and ensuring messaging; print, signage & web content is up-to-dateQualificationsRelevant qualification or working towards it in graphic design or equivalent.Experience, Skills And AbilitiesDemonstrated knowledge and application of design software packages including Adobe Creative suite (Adobe, Illustrator and InDesign) and MS Office suite of products.Working knowledge of web-based content management systems.Working knowledge of photography and related equipment.Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills – able to communicate with clients and external visitors, managers and staff at all levels and present a professional image.DesirableWork experience in a social media/graphic design role.Illustration skills with an ability to be creative & innovative.Experience in videography and video content creation.Strong writing & proofreading skills.RequirementsAboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander pursuant to Section 50D of the Equal Employment Opportunities Act (Essential).Satisfactory National Police Clearance.Valid Drivers’ License and willingness to travel as required.Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.A copy of the Job Description can be obtained by contacting the People Services Team on 1800 311 888 or work@dyhs.org.auHow to Apply: Please apply through SEEK, applications must include:Current Resume including current contact details; andCover letter addressing the selection criteria (2 pages maximum) outlining your suitability for the role.Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service Aboriginal Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Institution embracing diversity and strongly encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and welcome applications from all backgrounds.
