A major financial services organisation is seeking a high-calibre Risk Control Analyst to partner directly with its Data & AI business unit on a critical risk uplift agenda.
This is a true first-line risk role embedded in the business, working alongside senior leaders across data, digital and AI to strengthen risk controls, improve governance, and ensure the function is operating within appetite as it delivers major initiatives.
If you come from technology risk, data risk, operational risk or controls and know how to work inside a fast-moving business rather than comment from the sidelines, this is the kind of contract worth looking at.
The opportunity
You will sit within the Data & AI function and act as a trusted risk partner to the General Manager and leadership team. Your remit will be to strengthen the division's risk foundations, embed fit-for-purpose controls, support governance and reporting, and help lift overall risk maturity across a complex and evolving environment. This role will suit someone who knows how to bring discipline, structure and commercial judgement to a function dealing with data, AI, privacy, regulation and operational risk.
What you will be doing
* Partnering with Data & AI leaders to embed practical, effective risk management across strategic initiatives
* Managing and uplifting the division's risk profile across incidents, actions, risks and controls
* Maintaining the business area risk register and driving meaningful risk visibility and accountability
* Designing, implementing and monitoring key risk indicators across the function
* Identifying control gaps, improving control effectiveness and supporting remediation activity
* Supporting the business to manage risk within appetite and build action plans where gaps exist
* Coordinating risk and governance reporting for senior leadership, committees and board-level forums
* Leading audit and assurance coordination for the business area, including regulatory reviews and evidence delivery
* Supporting APRA-related responses and broader risk and compliance obligations
* Conducting privacy impact assessments across data and AI initiatives
* Working closely with legal, compliance, second line risk and audit stakeholders to ensure alignment across frameworks and obligations
* Helping build stronger risk capability and risk culture across the Data & AI business unit
What we are looking for
We are looking for a risk professional who can operate confidently in complex environments and who understands how to embed risk practices into business activity, not just report on them after the fact.
You will likely bring
* Demonstrated experience in a Line 1 risk, controls, operational risk or technology risk role
* Strong understanding of risk frameworks, controls, governance and assurance practices
* Experience supporting technology, digital, data or AI environments
* Strong working knowledge of operational risk, compliance obligations and regulatory expectations
* Exposure to APRA prudential standards, control assurance and governance forums
* Experience with risk registers, incident management, action tracking and remediation
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders
* Comfort operating at pace, managing ambiguity and working across multiple stakeholders and priorities
Highly regarded
* Experience in financial services, superannuation, banking or insurance
* Exposure to data governance, privacy, AI governance or digital risk
* Experience supporting audits, assurance reviews or regulatory responses
* Relevant qualifications in risk, business, law, governance or a related discipline
This is a genuine opportunity to step into a visible, business-facing role at the intersection of risk, data and AI. You will be working with senior stakeholders, supporting high-profile initiatives, and helping shape how risk is embedded across one of the most commercially important functions in the business.
A well suited to someone who is seeking a temp role with real substance, strong stakeholder exposure and immediate impact.
