Elevation Recruitment Group are working in partnership with a Fabrication business to recruit a skilled Welding Robot Operator & Programmer to join their growing fabrication team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in advancing automation and maintaining high‐quality welding standards within a modern manufacturing environment.
Location: South Kirkby, West Yorkshire
Salary: £40,000+ (depending on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 4:00pm / Friday: 7:00am – 1:00pm
Closed on Bank Holidays and over the Christmas period
The Role
As a Welding Robot Operator & Programmer, you will be responsible for operating, programming, and maintaining KUKA robotic welding systems. You'll contribute directly to improving productivity, ensuring consistent weld quality, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the fabrication department.
Key Responsibilities
* Program, operate, and optimise robotic welding systems
* Create, test, validate, and fine‐tune welding programmes on live components
* Carry out offline programming
* Manage robot programme libraries and backups
* Adjust welding parameters based on material and joint specifications
* Inspect welds to ensure compliance with WPS and quality standards
* Support continuous improvement, including jig and fixture development
* Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on robotic welding cells
* Diagnose and resolve programming or process faults
* Train and support colleagues in basic robot operation
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience operating and programming industrial robotic welding systems
* Experience with KUKA robots or similar platforms
* Strong knowledge of MIG/MAG welding processes
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Excellent problem‐solving skills and attention to detail
* Experience with offline programming (KUKASIM or equivalent)
* Welding qualifications or coded welder experience
* Experience with jig and fixture design/modification
* Understanding of automated manufacturing environments
