In this role, you'll develop newsroom-ready content, shape compelling narratives, and support the delivery of PR strategies across education, skills, and industry-related initiatives.
You'll collaborate closely with internal communications, ministerial offices, legal, and production teams to ensure content is accurate, compliant, and aligned to government messaging.
Main Duties
Developing media angles and story concepts that appeal to TV, online and social newsrooms
Crafting clear, engaging narratives for public-facing campaigns
Preparing Video News Releases (VNRs) and newsroom-ready assets
Coaching spokespeople (e.g., Ministers, CEOs) on strong sound bites
Managing content approvals, timelines and distribution across media outlets
Ensuring compliance with accessibility, brand and government communication standards
Skills
8-12+ years' experience in PR, communications, or journalism
Strong understanding of the Australian media landscape
Proven expertise in crafting media angles and securing newsroom pickup
Experience producing or guiding newsroom-ready content/VNRs
Excellent stakeholder management skills and confidence working with senior leaders
Familiarity with government or public sector communications is a strong advantage
