The City of Canterbury Bankstown is one of the largest Councils in NSW with diverse communities. We deliver 28 key services to over 380,000 residents.
The role We have an exciting prospect for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will gain experience across asset management, forward planning, design, and project management of Council infrastructure. This is a temporary full-time position until December 2027.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Assist in planning, designing, and delivering civil infrastructure projects including roads, stormwater, and public spaces.
- Prepare project documentation including project planning investigations, reports, cost estimates and risk/needs assessments.
- Contribute to asset planning through data analysis, mapping, and digitisation using GIS and engineering software.
- Prepare designs using CAD and support project delivery.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including utilities and government agencies.
- Respond to civil infrastructure enquiries and correspondence.
- Assist with grant funding applications and reporting.
- Collaborate with other departments and support broader CBCity projects as required.
- Ensure projects comply with relevant legislation, standards, and Council policies.

You will have
- Degree qualifications in Civil Engineering.
- Current Class C Driver Licence.
- Foundational knowledge of surveying, design, documentation, and project management, particularly for road, traffic, drainage, building, and open space projects of limited scale and complexity.
- Understanding of preparing construction cost estimates.
- Basic proficiency in civil engineering and drafting software.
Desirable (but not essential): Experience with Australian engineering design standards, civil engineering software (AutoCAD/12D), GIS tools, and surveying equipment.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $71,820 (Grade D, Step 1) + Super.
