About the Business Unit
H.M. Prison Langi Kal Kal is a minimum-security men's protection prison located 140klm west of Melbourne at Trawalla. The prison's primary purpose is to prepare male prisoners for transition, reintegration, and release. As a working farm with eight separate industries, there is a strong focus on employment, training, and work readiness.
About the Role
The Performance and Compliance Coordinator is a multifaceted role encompassing maintaining an effective compliance program, undertaking project work and related tasks, particularly in relation to reviews and performance for procedural compliance and OH&S requirements for the location.
The role requires leadership, maturity, sound judgement and confidence in decision making. With highly developed communication and negotiation skills, this position leads and manages activities and projects, and provides guidance to teams within the requirements of legislation, regulation, policies, and procedures.
An important facet of this role involves liaison with internal staff and external stakeholders and preparation of analytical and informed contributions to assist with recommendations to implement strategic solutions to address identified operational and services delivery deficiencies.
The role will undertake auditing and will oversee the compliance model and be responsible for ensuring compliance with OH&S legislation for the location, monitoring and providing strategies and information pertaining to OH&S risk, themes, and investigations.
Some of your duties will include:
* Participate in the development and implementation of strategies for quality assurance and continuous improvement in the execution of compliance management and OH&S.
* Participate in a multi-disciplinary team to support and enhance compliance management processes and practices as a member of the compliance oversight committee including the review, development and maintenance of an effective compliance model.
* Monitor compliance activities including completion of compliance monitoring tasks, reporting of non-compliances, and tracking to ensure completion of actions in response identified issues.
* Undertake research and consultation to gather information, statistics and views on identified issues, providing analysis, interpretation and related reports and recommendations to the General Manager.
* Coordinate and oversee regular audits relating to OH&S, compliance, and other relevant areas and provide advice to improve prison practices and reduce risk.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications.
* Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Departmental specific software, including PIMS, JIMS and EJustice.
