About the Role
This is Prophet's first dedicated SysOps hire — and you will be the person who owns the reliability, deployment, and operational maturity of our GCP-native cloud platform.
You'll be accountable for the health of production: the deployment pipeline, the observability stack, incident response, and the infrastructure-as-code that makes all of it repeatable. Your work gives the engineering team — and our enterprise customers — confidence that the platform is solid, visible, and recoverable.
As Prophet expands into new markets, you'll also shape the multi-region architecture and build the operational foundation that allows the SysOps function to grow. This is a high-ownership role where you'll have real influence over how Prophet's infrastructure evolves.
What You'll Do
Own Prophet's cloud infrastructure. You'll manage and evolve our GCP environment — compute, networking, storage, and security — ensuring it meets the reliability and performance expectations of enterprise customers. You'll maintain infrastructure-as-code practices across all environments and enforce secure-by-default patterns.
Build confident, repeatable deployments. You'll own the deployment pipeline from build to production, implementing strategies that minimise risk and support rapid rollback. You'll track deployment success rate and MTTR as core KPIs, and progressively increase deployment frequency as reliability metrics justify it.
Make the platform observable. You'll build a production-grade observability stack — structured logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting — with alerts tied to customer impact and business outcomes, not just infrastructure noise. You'll own incident response, post-incident reviews, and the continuous improvement loop that follows.
Document everything that matters. You'll write and maintain runbooks for all critical operational procedures, contribute to compliance documentation for SOC 2 and ISO 27001, and build the operational maturity needed to support team growth.
Design for multi-region scale. You'll contribute to the architectural design for multi-region infrastructure — data replication, compute topology, tenant isolation, and data residency — and build repeatable, Terraform-driven processes so new regions can be stood up efficiently.
Support security and compliance. You'll partner with the team on vulnerability management, access controls, and compliance frameworks, and support enterprise security assessments and RFP responses with accurate infrastructure documentation.
What You'll Bring
* 4+ years in SysOps, SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering.
* Strong hands‐on experience with a major cloud platform — GCP strongly preferred (GKE, BigQuery, Cloud Run, GCS, IAM, VPC networking).
* Proficiency with Terraform and infrastructure‐as‐code.
* Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and container orchestration.
* Solid understanding of deployment strategies (blue/green, canary, rolling) and CI/CD pipelines.
* Experience building observability stacks — structured logging, metrics, alerting, and dashboards (Datadog, Grafana, or similar).
* Comfort writing and maintaining runbooks and operational documentation.
* Experience with security and compliance requirements (SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar) is a strong plus.
Bonus points for:
* Experience with multi-region cloud architectures and data residency considerations.
* Familiarity with GCP security services — VPC Service Controls, Private Service Connect, Workload Identity.
* Background in a SaaS environment serving enterprise customers.
* Exposure to data pipeline infrastructure and batch processing systems.
How You'll Be Measured
* Reliability: 99.9%+ uptime for production services.
* Deployment confidence: Tracked success rate (target 95%+), daily deployment frequency, and sub-30‐minute MTTR for P1 incidents.
* Observability: All critical services instrumented with structured logging, meaningful alerts, and operational dashboards.
* Documentation: Runbooks covering all critical procedures, kept current.
* Scale readiness: Repeatable IaC-driven processes for launching new regions.
