The Role:

Reporting directly to senior management, this is a hands‐on leadership role responsible for overseeing laboratory operations, technical compliance, staff development, and quality systems in line with NATA and Australian Standards. You will play a key role in strengthening laboratory procedures, supporting operational performance, and driving a strong culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Lead day‐to‐day asphalt laboratory operations and testing programs
* Manage NATA and ISO/IEC 17025 compliance requirements
* Mentor, train, and develop laboratory personnel
* Oversee technical reporting, audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Support mix design verification, production troubleshooting, and field compliance activities
* Coordinate laboratory resources across metro and regional projects
* Maintain laboratory equipment calibration and verification programs
* Provide technical support to clients, production teams, and project personnel

Skills & Experience:

* Extensive experience in asphalt and construction materials testing
* Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NATA, and laboratory compliance systems
* Previous laboratory leadership or supervisory experience
* Strong technical, organisational, and communication skills
* Ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions under pressure
* Diploma of Laboratory Technology (or equivalent) and current driver's licence
* Existing NATA Signatory status and experience in asphalt production or mobile laboratory operations highly regarded
