Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)
About The Role
We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help train and refine cutting-edge AI models on advanced scientific topics. Your deep domain expertise will directly shape how AI reasons through complex biochemistry — from protein folding to metabolic flux — making a real impact on the future of scientific AI.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No prior AI experience required.
* Organization: Alignerr
* Type: Hourly Contract
* Location: Remote
* Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
* Design Advanced Problems — Craft challenging biochemistry questions across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, enzyme kinetics, and drug-target interactions to stress-test AI performance
* Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as gold-standard benchmarks for high-level scientific reasoning
* Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical reasoning for scientific accuracy and adherence to established standards
* Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied biological principles, and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
* Work Independently — Complete assignments asynchronously on a schedule that fits your life
Who You Are
* Holds a PhD (completed or near completion) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
* Deep foundational knowledge in one or more core areas: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or molecular genetics
* Able to communicate highly technical biological and chemical concepts clearly and precisely in writing
* High attention to detail when reviewing complex chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
* No prior AI experience required — your scientific expertise is what matters
Nice to Have
* Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or academic peer review
* Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
* Background in scientific writing or technical communication
Why Join Us
