This is a leadership position in the Compliance team which undertakes frontline regulatory work, directly impacting the safety and wellbeing of consumers within the ACT community. Work is undertaken for a variety of statutory office holders, including:The Commissioner for Fair Trading;The Gambling and Racing Commission;The Controlled Sports Register; andThe Registrar-General.The Compliance team protects consumers, educates stakeholders, conducts enforcement where necessary, and regularly conducts both proactive and reactive field inspections to ensure the best possible outcomes for preventing harm. The position leads the team to deliver on these priorities, making decisions, allocating resources, maintaining and developing stakeholder relationships and addressing the more complex issues handled by the team. The position engages directly with various industry representatives to improve identified compliance failures and to support ongoing compliance with legislation. The position also performs regulatory checks of businesses (during business hours and overtime e.g. late and weekend work) to monitor compliance and respond to community complaints.Eligibility/other RequirementsPrevious experience with regulatory practices and governance frameworks is highly desirable.This position does not require a pre-employment medical.This position does not require a Working with Vulnerable People Check.Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately to 04 December 2025, with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
