As we continue to grow, we're looking for a results-driven Collections Manager to join our leadership team and oversee the effectiveness of our arrears and recovery's function.
Role Overview
As the Collections Manager, you will lead the end-to-end collections strategy and operations across early, mid, and late-stage arrears. You’ll be responsible for driving collections performance, coaching a high-performing team, and implementing strategies that balance strong recoveries with a respectful, customer-first approach. This role is critical to maintaining loan book health and ensuring compliance with ASIC, AFCA, and NCCP guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop the in-house and offshore collections team, including escalations and hardship specialists.
Oversee day-to-day collections operations, with a focus on achieving recovery targets across different delinquency buckets (e.g., 30+, 60+, 90+, 120+).
Develop and execute strategies to reduce arrears, charge-offs, and improve portfolio performance.
Own and continuously improve collections scripts, call workflows, and digital engagement strategies.
Collaborate with Credit, Legal & Compliance, and Customer Experience teams to ensure regulatory compliance and high-quality resolutions.
Monitor key metrics and produce regular reporting to senior leadership and the board.
Implement QA programs, coaching frameworks, and performance KPIs across the team.
Identify high-risk segments and initiate proactive interventions, including hardship assessments and recovery planning.
Manage third-party collections relationships and oversee litigation/repossessions (if applicable).
Stay up to date on credit risk trends, consumer regulations, and industry best practices.
Key Requirements
5+ years of experience in collections, recoveries, or credit operations in a financial services or lending environment.
Proven experience managing a collections team and meeting recovery targets.
Strong understanding of Australian credit and consumer lending regulations (NCCP, ASIC, AFCA).
Excellent leadership, coaching, and people management skills.
Data-driven decision-maker with strong reporting and analytical capabilities.
Experience working with collections systems, dialers, and CRM platforms.
High emotional intelligence, resilience, and ability to balance assertiveness with empathy.
