Located in Canyonleigh in the Southern Highlands of NSW, Tugalong Farm is seeking a Farm Manager to manage its daily operations of a 150-acre property. Tugalong Farm has over 70 acres of pasture (40 acres to be cleared and fenced) for cattle/ sheep 7 acres under vine (award winning Pinos Gris and Shiraz), 120 Olive trees and fruit trees.
Tugalong Farm is seeking an experienced individual in a range of agricultural operations including both livestock and cropping/ vineyard.
Tugalong Farm is seeking a self-motivated and energetic individual to rejuvenate and improve yields and develop a new brand with its new cattle stock. You will manage the day to day operations around the farm as work and learn with a highly experience Vigneron for the vineyard.
Responsibilities include:
Daily management of Cattle & Feeding etc.
Animal husbandry
Spraying and general weed management
Managing the agronomy, land and water control measures of the property
General farm labour & maintenance including fencing repair etc.
General Machinery operation
Cropping operation including preparation, seeding and harvesting
Manging and implementing feed operations (including a feed lot) and pastural improvements
Co-ordinating transport & logistics
Loading and unloading, stock and equipment
Managing as per a budget and negotiation of contracts
Research and purchasing stock etc.
Explore means of improvement and sustainable farming practices
Report to the property owner
Applicant must have:
Substantial experience in a similar role is necessary
Understanding of Agriculture operations, particularly cattle
Interest in innovation
Competent skills and experience with construction and agricultural machinery
Ability to work independently and in a team
Positive communication skills
Clean driver's licence
OH&S; experience preferred
Mechanical experience preferred
