Initial 12-month contract for an experienced Communications Officer
Your new company
Hays is currently partnered with a Federal Government organisation to recruit a Communications Officer in a temporary capacity. This company is an independent statutory agency that is responsible for implementing programs that support a better life those with a significant and permanent disability and their families and carers.
Your new role
The Communications Officer will support the provision of business communications for internal and external audiences, including implementing the Council's Communications Strategy and annual Communications and Engagement Plan. The role will exercise skill, technical support and expertise in communications to implement high quality communications and engagement plans, projects, and materials to ensure Council promotes its work and role.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Support the development and production of high quality and accessible Council communication materials in consultation with internal and external stakeholders to meet timeframes and deliver quality results
- Support the regular development, delivery, and review of strategic communications content through established communication channels. For example, Council's intranet and website.
- Guide projects and initiatives in line with Council's Communications Strategy, annual Communications and Engagement Plan and communications calendar.
- Ensure compliance with accessibility standards for all Council's internal and external communications, including writing in plain English. Skills in Easy Read would be desirable.
- Drafting and undertaking quality assurance of Council communications documents, brand guidelines and Commonwealth style manual.
- Ability to assimilate complex, technical, and sensitive issues to drafting meeting minutes and meeting bulletins.
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of communications procedures and guidance documents pertinent to Council communications.

- Provide accurate and specialised advice in compliance with relevant legislation and policy frameworks.
What you'll get in return
A competitive rate at $58.50 per hour plus super and initial 12-month contract with possible extension
