About The Role
We are seeking experienced Mainframe Software Developers to join a collaborative team focused on innovation, quality, and continuous improvement. This role is suited for professionals passionate about mainframe technologies and eager to contribute to high-impact systems across government and enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL-based applications in a z/OS mainframe environment
* Write and optimise complex SQL queries for DB2 for z/OS
* Integrate COBOL applications with DB2 databases and IBM MQ messaging systems
* Manage user access and system security using RACF
* Participate in code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning
* Collaborate with testers, analysts, and DevOps engineers
* Contribute to system documentation and knowledge sharing
* Support continuous improvement and modernisation efforts using Micro Focus tools
Required Experience
* COBOL (e.g., IBM COBOL for z/OS)
* DB2 for z/OS and SQL query optimisation
* DB2 utilities (LOAD, UNLOAD, REORG)
* COBOL-DB2 integration
* RACF for user profile management and access control
* IBM MQ for message queue integration
* z/OS environment tools: JCL, TSO/ISPF, VSAM file handling
Preferred Experience/Qualifications
* Micro Focus Enterprise Developer / Analyzer
* Experience in mainframe application modernisation
* Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
* Certifications in mainframe technologies are advantageous
