Our client is seeking an experienced Associate or Senior Associate to join our Family Law team. This is an excellent opportunity for a family lawyer with strong technical skills, sound judgment and a genuine commitment to client care to take the next step in their career within a respected Canberra firm. Working closely with our Family Law Partners and broader team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of family law matters, including parenting, property, financial agreements, child support and related dispute resolution and litigation matters.

About The Role

In this role, you will be responsible for:

* Managing a range of family law matters, including parenting, property and financial matters, with involvement in complex disputes, litigation and dispute resolution.
* Drafting court documents, correspondence, agreements and other family law documents.
* Preparing clear, practical and strategic legal advice for clients.
* Representing clients in court, conferences, mediations and other dispute resolution processes.
* Working collaboratively with Partners, lawyers, paralegals and support staff to deliver excellent client outcomes.
* Mentoring, training and providing guidance to junior lawyers, associates and paralegals.
* Maintaining sound file management and financial hygiene practices, including preparing and reviewing fee estimates, monitoring work in progress, managing outstanding accounts and supporting effective debt management processes.
* Complying with firm policies and assisting other team members to do the same.
* Contributing to business development, including networking, marketing and client relationship activities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* A Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor and be admitted to practise as a lawyer in the ACT.
* Ideally at least 5 years post-admission experience, although candidates with strong family law experience will be considered.
* Strong experience in family law, including parenting and property matters.
* Experience in litigation, dispute resolution and preparing court documents.
* The ability to work independently with limited supervision.
* Strong drafting, legal research and advisory skills.
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
* The ability to explain complex legal issues clearly, practically and with empathy.
* Strong time management skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
* A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to a positive team culture.
* The confidence to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, referrers and other professional contacts.
* An interest in contributing to business development and the strategic growth of the firm.
