The Opportunity:

The Department is seeking to establish a pool of experienced water and climate specialists to fill both immediate and future vacancies within our Water division. These roles work together to integrate hydrogeological, hydrological, climate science, environmental knowledge to assess the current status and trends of water resources to inform sustainable approaches to water resource management and water supply planning.

These roles will contribute to water resource information and resource decision-making across agencies and stakeholders. The work is grounded in the principle that sound water management is underpinned by excellent science.

What we're looking for:

* SC2 Engineer or SC3 Senior Engineer (Hydrology and Hydroclimate)
– responsible for leading (SC3) and/or supporting (SC2) on matters relating to surface water hydrology and hydraulics to support WA water management and determine climate change impacts on surface water resources and/or develop floodplain mapping and development strategies.
* SC2 Environmental Officer – Climate Change and Water or SC3 Senior Climate Change and Water Specialist (Hydrology and Hydroclimate)
– responsible for leading (SC3) and/or supporting (SC2) the application of climate change science and water resource research application to build our understanding of how climate change will impact our water resources, providing a foundation for long-term planning and climate change adaptation in WA water management.
* SC2 Hydrogeologist or SC3 Senior Hydrogeologist (Groundwater Resource Science)
– responsible for leading (SC3) and/or supporting (SC2) complex groundwater investigations and providing expert hydrogeological advice to support sustainable water resource management across Western Australia. It includes desktop analysis, stakeholder engagement, and field investigations to assess groundwater systems and deliver high-quality scientific advice.
