About the Centre

The Central Coast Community Legal Centre (Central Coast CLC) is a not-for-profit community organisation, which is currently based in Wyong on the NSW Central Coast. The Central Coast CLC seeks to provide free, accessible and non-judgmental quality legal services to people living, working or studying on the NSW Central Coast. The Centre is managed by a community-based Board of directors.

About the Role

The Aboriginal Access Worker is an integral part of the legal service delivery at Central Coast Community Legal Centre. The role exists to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are able to access legal services in a culturally safe, respectful and practical way, and that Aboriginal perspectives and cultural knowledge are embedded across the Centre's work. The Aboriginal Access Worker supports both clients and lawyers, acting as a bridge of support where appropriate, and plays a central role in building trust between Aboriginal communities and the legal system.

The role is both relational and practical. It involves direct client support, community engagement, legal service delivery alongside solicitors, and leadership in community legal education, events and law reform activities. The Aboriginal Access Worker also contributes to creating and maintaining a culturally safe workplace for staff, volunteers and partners. Cultural supervision is provided through external Aboriginal supervisors to support the wellbeing and professional development of the worker.

About You

We are looking for a community-connected and culturally grounded person to join our team as Aboriginal Access Worker. This is a relational and practical role for someone who brings lived connection to Darkinjung Country, experience supporting Aboriginal communities, and a genuine commitment to access to justice.

You'll work alongside solicitors and community partners to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients can access legal services in a way that is culturally safe, respectful and empowering. You'll be confident engaging across communities and organisations, leading community events and education, and acting as a trusted bridge between clients and the legal system.

This role suits someone with strong relationship-building skills, a solid understanding of trauma-informed and culturally safe practice, and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

Key Selection Criteria

* Aboriginality is a genuine qualification under the Anti-discrimination Act 1977 (NSW)
* Demonstrated experience of living on, and connection to Darkinjung Country and community
* Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities in a support, advocacy or community engagement role.
* Strong understanding of cultural safety, trauma informed practice and the impacts of systemic disadvantage on Aboriginal people.
* Strong communication, relationship building and networking skills, including experience working in partnership with Aboriginal organisations.
* Hold a current driver's license and willingness to travel across the Wyong and Gosford local government areas
* Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team providing legal and non-legal support to people facing social and economic disadvantage to people living, working or studying on the Central Coast
* Working With Children Check and a Criminal Record Check clearance

Desirable Criteria:

* Experience in planning, leading and delivering community events or similar initiatives, with the ability to work independently.
* Ability to organise work, manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.
* Ability to work in an electronic environment including in a client management system (Microsoft outlook suite, ActionStep, etc)
* Experience working within a community legal centre or legal assistance service.
* Experience in law reform, advocacy or consultation processes.
