* Safety and Environmental Lead for Defence Maritime Enterprise
We are seeking a highly experienced safety and environmental professional to lead our team in the delivery of strategic outcomes that drive positive impact on the defence maritime community.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety and environmental management, with experience in leading teams and projects that deliver results in complex environments. They will be able to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including Defence personnel, industry partners and regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the development and implementation of safety and environmental strategies and initiatives that align with Defence's objectives;
* Provide expert advice and guidance to Defence personnel and industry partners on safety and environmental matters;
* Collaborate with other Directorates within ODSwR to ensure consistent and effective delivery of safety and environmental outcomes;
* Maintain a strong network of contacts within the Defence community and external stakeholders to stay up-to-date with emerging issues and trends; and
* Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Defence leadership, industry partners and regulatory bodies.
Requirements:
* A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. engineering, science, environment) or equivalent experience;
* Proven experience in a senior safety and environmental role, with a track record of delivering results in complex environments;
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders;
* A strong understanding of safety and environmental regulations and standards applicable to Defence operations;
* Experience working with data analysis tools and techniques to inform safety and environmental decision-making;
* Ability to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally;
* Highly developed problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and outside the box;
* Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines;
* A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, with a focus on staying up-to-date with emerging safety and environmental issues and trends;
* A strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability, with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes in a timely and efficient manner.
