Traffic Engineering Specialist Role
A crucial position in the Local Government Area is seeking an experienced Traffic Engineering Specialist to contribute to the development and implementation of a safe and efficient traffic and transport system.
This role involves working on traffic and transport impact assessments, planning, and input in the implementation of traffic facilities and public transport systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct thorough traffic and transport impact assessments of traffic generating developments applications and land use rezoning proposals.
* Develop and implement strategic policies and procedures, and provide recommendations relating to traffic, transport, and road safety matters.
* Analyze and implement public transport systems within the Local Government Area.
* Provide expert advice on traffic and road safety matters, including investigation, analysis, formulation of solutions, and preparation of reports.
* Assist in the administration of the Local Traffic Committee, including preparation of reports and attendance at committee meetings.
* Represent the Local Government Area in NSW Land & Environment Court, community forums, and other relevant events related to traffic, transport, and road safety issues.
* Secure necessary approvals for traffic management road permits, road closures (temporary and permanent), and traffic requirements in accordance with NSW Local Government and Roads Acts.
* Plan, project manage, coordinate, and implement traffic and transport projects programs within agreed time frames.
* Maintain effective liaison and communication with external organizations and stakeholders, including Transport for NSW and Department of Planning & Environment.
* Ensure responsible, safe, and efficient use of the Local Government Area's traffic/transport resources.
Ideal Candidate:
* 3-5 years' experience in traffic and transport engineering, with strong technical proficiency and ability to apply traffic engineering principles effectively.
* Sound knowledge of TfNSW guidelines and industry standards.
* Ability to read, review, and interpret design plans.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across teams and with the community.
* High-level stakeholder engagement experience, ensuring positive collaboration and outcomes.
* Customer service focus, including the ability to respond to and manage a high volume of community requests in a professional and timely manner.
