As a Senior Frontend Engineer at Canva, you will play a crucial role in redefining the user experience by making our design tool more accessible.
About The Role
You will work closely with our Accessibility Teams to identify and fix cross-cutting issues, scale audit processes, establish accessibility engineering best practices, and collaborate with design system teams. Your goal is to enhance the developer experience by creating tools, patterns, and documentation that allow other developers to build accessible features by default, ensuring our platform can scale accessibility solutions to support 1 billion users.
This position requires strong commercial experience in software development, ideally with experience in building internal/external SDKs or APIs. You should have a firm grounding in computer science and engineering fundamentals, including asynchronous programming, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working collaboratively with team members, communicating effectively, and giving feedback. Experience writing accessible code and reading detailed specifications (WCAG 2.2 AA, ATAG 2.0) is a plus, but a genuine interest and commitment to creating an accessible experience for all users is essential.
