Primary objective
Support the development and implementation of the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) with a focus on
governance, business transformation and effective oversight of key business projects supporting the provision of quality
education and training giving every child the opportunity to engage, grow and achieve.
Context statement
The Strategic Projects branch is responsible for ensuring programs and projects of work are aligned to agency, Northern
Territory Government and Australian Government strategic priorities. Strategic Projects promote and maintain agency
program management standards, ensuring consistent delivery of and reporting on the strategic program by business areas.
The division work closely with business areas, One NTG partners, consultants and business analysts to deliver outcomes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Initiate, plan and deliver complex strategic business program and projects including initiatives arising from Cabinet, ensure
their alignment to outcomes through evaluation practices, and provide progress reporting as required.
2. Provide support to develop and implement consistent agency-wide contemporary best practice and contextually
appropriate program and project management frameworks and methodologies, covering scope management, benefits
realisation, stakeholder engagement, governance, reporting, timeframes, resources, risk and issues and communications.
1. Establish and support agency wide capability development and cultural change to support implementation of the program and
project management framework and methodology.
1. Develop and maintain strong relationships with school representatives, department business areas, vendors and
stakeholders to support achievement of project deliverables in the required timeframe.
1. Provide guidance to business areas developing project proposals and support their engagement with the appropriate
governance bodies.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven ability to provide contemporary and constructive leadership and support of an achievement focused culture.
2. Experience in supporting the implementation and delivery of complex program and project management and governance.
3. Demonstrated ability to support and drive organisational culture change to introduce new ways of working, for example,
consistent approaches to program and project management.
4. Experience in managing projects, resources and change to meet business objectives including the ability to work under
pressure, prioritise commitments and meet critical deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
5. Sound strategic, conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills to research and find innovative solutions relevant to the
educational context.
6. Demonstrated high level communication and collaboration skills with proven experience in developing and maintaining
positive relationships with culturally diverse stakeholders across all levels of an organisation and the ability to negotiate
and influence others towards a common goal.
Desirable
1. Relevant qualifications in project management, business analysis and change management.
